Prime San Francisco Real Estate
Officially known as the SOMA MLS District, this area is better described as West Soma. Bounded by Market, the 101 & 80 freeways, and 4th/5th Streets, the personality has changed since Twitter moved in, along with some very large residential developments under construction. This area has been trying to gentrify for years, maybe it’s time has finally come.
Previously the east part of SOMA, the Yerba Buena MLS District is bounded by Market, Fifth, the 80 freeway, and Rincon Hill. The north part is where the city’s four ultra luxe high end residential towers live. Just think five star hotel in both name and amenities. This great location is also home to a half dozen full service loft and condominium buildings.
Not having it’s own MLS District, Rincon Hill the is elevated portion of South Beach. Unofficially bounded by Folsom, 1st, the 80 freeway, and Fremont St, Rincon Hill boasts the city’s tallest residential buildings perched on the city’s highest elevations. ORH, the city’s tallest building is already here, it will be joined shortly by three other 40-story giants.
Infinity is a premier community with two tall towers at 301 Main & 338 Spear, and two 8-story tree-top buildings at 333 Main & 318 Spear. Built by Tishman Speyer in 2008, the 655-condominium complex has a great ‘almost’ waterfront location; close to the headquarters of Salesforce, The Gap, Bechtel, and a 1000-person Google sales Office. The Federal Reserve Bank is also close.
In sunny South Beach, the triangle below the Bay Bridge includes some great larger (200+ units) condominium complexes, including The Brannan, 200 Brannan, The Watermark, 88 King, Portside II, and a few really well done loft buildings. Less busy than Upper South Beach, Lower South Beach has less density and is closer to freeway access. AT&T Ballpark is an accepted neighbor here.
The Financial District has several 35+ unit buildings, some having views from forty stories up. If corporate is not your style, you don’t belong here. Since San Franciso adheres to east coast market hours, this area may be quiet early evening and during the weekends. The area close to Union Square is the exception and provides a vibrant (albeit touristy) ambiance.
